Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>As a means of keeping the promise made to traditional leaders during the Nationwide Tour in 2021, President George M. Weah has donated a consignment of 45 vehicles and 15 motorbikes to ensure efficiency in the day-to-day activities of the local leaders of the country.<\/p>\n

The magnanimity of the Liberian leader was distributed evenly across the 15 subdivisions of the country, where each county received ten motorbikes, two pickups and an ambulance.<\/p>\n

According to the Liberian Chief Executive, the 45 vehicles, which include 30 pickups and 15 ambulances, were intended for the traditional leaders while the ambulances are exclusively for the County Health Teams of the 15 counties.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the official turnover ceremony of the items at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, President Weah asserted that the local leaders are doing a tedious job on a daily basis, as such they cannot continue to walk while performing their duties across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust in case you don\u2019t know, you asked the Government of Liberia for three bikes during our country tour and I made it ten. I am the President, I did it before and I\u2019m doing it again,\u201d Dr. Weah pointed out.<\/p>\n

He reechoed the reason for which he was elected to the country\u2019s highest office which, according to him, is to make the livelihood of the citizens better.<\/p>\n

The Liberian leader vowed to institute measures that will prove beneficial to the citizenry on grounds that they elected him without asking for anything in return, so he sees the donations as a way of giving back to his people.<\/p>\n

President Weah said while he believes the road network is cardinal to the survivability of the people, he emphasized that the commitment made to his people must be fulfilled.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why on behalf of my government I am very excited to deliver these items,\u201d President Weah emphasized.<\/p>\n

He called on Liberians to prioritize the issue of dialogue in the settlement of disenchantments, noting that when people dialogue in peace everything can be achieved.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Chairman of the National Traditional Council, Chief Zanzan Kawor, said that the initiative is laudable, stating that the donation from the President has shown the highest level of love in the country.<\/p>\n

He assured the public that the items will help the traditional leaders to be more effective, pinpointing that whenever traditional leaders are called upon they will be on time.<\/p>\n

The traditional head also cautioned his colleagues to avoid playing double standard games in the performance of their duties.<\/p>\n

Also, the Traditional leaders warned his compatriots against using the tradition to cause problems for peaceful citizens.<\/p>\n

Chief Kawor narrated that the laws give them (Traditional leaders) the right to stand and petition their lawmakers and not to abuse the customs by bringing \u201ccountry devil\u201d on citizens.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, extolled the President for the donation of the 15 ambulances to the County Health Teams, stressing that the donation will beef up the number of ambulances in the country from 50 to 75.<\/p>\n

She disclosed that the country needs additional 60 ambulances to equal the targeted 135 needed nationwide to enable health service to be provided efficiently throughout the country.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health boss assured the President and the public that the ambulances will be used to carry out the functions of the County Health Teams across the 15 political subdivisions of the country.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Dr. Jallah extolled Liberians for adhering to the Health protocols setup by the health practitioners, saying that the adherence by Liberians has led to the decrease of the number of COVID cases in the country.<\/p>\n
