Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Lone Star of Liberia delighted home fans with a commanding 3\u20131 victory over Namibia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, marking the country\u2019s third home win in recent times since the renovation of the national stadium and keeping faint hopes of finishing second in their World Cup qualifying group alive.<\/p>\n

Liberia got off to a dream start just two minutes into the match when Nicholas Andrews was brought down inside the penalty area. Ayouba Kosiah stepped up and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the hosts an early lead.<\/p>\n

The Lone Star continued to press, dominating possession and moving the ball with confidence. Their efforts paid off again whenSulahmana Bah doubled the advantage with a composed finish after a clever assist from Divine Teah, who dictated play from midfield.<\/p>\n

Andrews remained a constant threat to the Namibian defense as Liberia controlled much of the first half.<\/p>\n

Namibia came close in the 36th minute, but defender Emmanuel Fully on his debut produced a crucial clearance to deny what looked like a certain goal.<\/p>\n

Despite some late pressure from the visitors, Liberia\u2019s backline stood firm to head into the break with a 2\u20130 advantage.<\/p>\n

The Brave Warriors came out stronger after the restart, pressing for an equalizer, but Liberia\u2019s goalkeeper Junior Yeanaye pulled off a vital save in the 63rd minute to maintain the lead.<\/p>\n

Coach Thomas Kojo then refreshed his attack, introducing Daniel Toe, Emmanuel Gono, and Edward Ledlum for Divine Teah, Ayouba Kosiah, and Nicholas Andrews.<\/p>\n

The changes paid off in the 80th minute when substitute Edward Ledlum scored a stunning curling strike to make it 3\u20130, sending the SKD crowd into celebration.<\/p>\n

Namibia grabbed a late consolation in the 85th minute , but Liberia comfortably saw out the game to seal a deserved 3\u20131 victory.<\/p>\n

The victory increased Liberia\u2019s points to 14, one point behind Namibia in second.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Coach Thomas Kojo praised his players\u2019 determination and focus.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud of the result, but all thanks to the players they gave their best and we won. Liberians are happy today,\u201d Kojo said<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to win at all costs. Beyond qualification, these games are about improving our FIFA ranking and showing that Liberia can win at home. This victory is a big plus for our football.\u201d<\/p>\n

The result keeps Liberia\u2019s hopes of finishing second in their group alive, but they remain far from a playoff spot, as other group runners-up have already surpassed the Lone Star\u2019s potential 17-point maximum.<\/p>\n

Liberia will wrap up their World Cup qualifying campaign on October 13 away to Equatorial Guinea, aiming to finish strong and continue rebuilding confidence under Kojo\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n
