Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Over 1,400 inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) were fed with hot cooked meals prepared and distributed by Indian businessman and philanthropist Mr. Upjit Singh Sachedeva and his Jeety Trading Corporation on Sunday afternoon, 30 January 2022.<\/p>\n

Over the years Mr. Jeety and his team have been carrying out the feeding exercise for not only inmates but also other vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the society who are challenged and can hardly fend for themselves.<\/p>\n

A package of cooked food for each inmate contained rice, beans, chicken, soft drink and water, among others<\/p>\n

Mr. Jeety used Sunday\u2019s food distribution exercise to again continue to appeal to other business people to see the need to give to the needy, suggesting that \u201cnobody has gotten poor by giving.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I will urge all my fellow businessmen to give to all the needy,\u201d said Mr, Jeety.<\/p>\n

He indicated that if one person tries to feed one of his or her neighbors, he believes that there will be a day where nobody will sleep hungry in the world.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jeety expressed gratitude to the management of the prison facility, including Col. Varney Lake and his team who have allowed the Jeety Trading Corporation every time to feed the inmates.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the inmates are being held in custody for the crimes they have committed, but he and his team are carrying out the feeding initiative to buttress the efforts of the government.<\/p>\n

Col. Varney, Lake, Superintendent, Monrovia Central Prison, thanked Mr. Jeety and his team, saying he can\u2019t get tired of thanking Mr. Jeety for his humanitarian services to the inmates.<\/p>\n

Col. Lake said of recent, what really touched him most was the connection established by Mr. Jeety between the prison management and Sethi Corporation which led to the prison receiving over hundred bags of 25kg rice.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo this has now become a culture and we pray reverently that as the year goes by, you will grow in helping the needy,\u201d said Col. Lake.<\/p>\n
