{"id":84836,"date":"2025-11-25T11:11:58","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T11:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/liberia\/all-news\/boakais-police-escort-in-tragic-motor-accident-again"},"modified":"2025-11-25T11:23:41","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T11:23:41","slug":"boakais-police-escort-in-tragic-motor-accident-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/liberia\/all-news\/boakais-police-escort-in-tragic-motor-accident-again","title":{"rendered":"Boakai\u2019s Police Escort in tragic motor accident again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>For the second time in less than six years of his first term in office, the presidential motorcade of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has taken away a human life in a situation described as reckless.<\/p>\n<p>The accident this time is not directly one of the presidential motorcade\u2019s main vehicles, but a Liberia National Police (LNP) escort pickup serving as the last mobile support in the president\u2019s convoy.<\/p>\n<p>A police pickup marked with license plate #249 struck, dragged, and killed instantly a woman and a motorcyclist identified as Peter Kamara along the Todee-Monrovia highway.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses account the incident as chaotic, stating the speeding presidential vehicle had no sirens or warning prior to the accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no warning, just sirens, speed, and then screams,\u201d a witness said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur bike was behind when the president\u2019s convoy passed. The last car, the police pickup, hit the motorbike,\u201d Patience, a witness, added.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana is yet to comment on the accident, but reports said the victims were rushed to the CH Rennie Hospital in Kakata City.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the Liberia National Police Communication Unit has yet to speak on the incident.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time President Boakai\u2019s motorcade has killed a citizen.
