Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span> The Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Dr. Samora P.Z Wolokollie has underscored the need for Liberian students to pursue quality education, terming it as a key player in the development drive of the nation.
\nMinister Wolokollie emphasized that the issue of acquiring quality education requires keen attention as well as focus and commitment.
\nWolokollie, who at the weekend, served as Guest Speaker at the 22nd Commencement Convocation of the Stella Maris Polytechnic University (SMPU) cautioned graduates of the institution to serve in their respective career with commitment.
\n\u201cOur perception and concession of situations are in function of how we are internally engineers, the conclusion we sometimes make for situations are ours but not the best solutions,\u201d the Minister told the graduates.
\nHe called on the graduates to know the type of friends they mingle with on grounds that there is a high tendency of them being influenced be it negatively or positively in life, citing, \u201cBirds of the same feathers flock together\u201d.
\nMinister Wolokollie emphasized that in order for one to be successful in life, they must also go around making friends with bigger dreams that will drive their desire towards success.
\nThe Keynote speaker advised the graduates to see their challenges as opportunity spots because most of the wealthy people today saw their challenges as opportunities even though it might not be easy.
\n\u201cTwo persons see things in different ways which are success and failure, and that one should not blame the other for his or her failure because with patience, seriousness and determination there is a success that awaits those credentials,\u201d he admonished the Graduates.
\nHe added: \u201cThere were days you went to school even though you were unprepared for the examination. Some days, some of you were financially depressed, but you all preserved and at the end of the day you all are now graduates.\u201d
\nWolokollie congratulated the students for a job well done, noting that their graduation is the commencement of the opening of doors for achievement that will subsequently better their life.
\nSMPU graduated over 400 students from different disciplines including ; Accounting, Architecture, Biology, Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Environmental science, Electrical Engineering, Nursing Education, General Agriculture among others.
