Police in Yekepa, Nimba County have arrested and charged two suspected criminals for allegedly stealing solar panel light from the streets of Yekepa, and the industrial city near the border with neighboring Guinea.<\/p>\n

The two suspects are identified as 28-year-old Johnson and 35-year-old Wales.<\/p>\n

Residents of Yekepa had complained repeatedly about the city is in total darkness, compared to the days of the former Liberian-American Mining Company or LAMCO in the 60s, 70s and 80s when 24 hours electricity and other services were available.<\/p>\n

However, the demand from locals, including Representative Joseph Nyan Somwarbi and residents of Yekepa led ArcelorMittal Liberia to provide several street lights (solar plates) to the city.<\/p>\n

The two suspects allegedly stole two pieces of solar plates from Yekepa, Nimba County and took them to Guinea for sale.<\/p>\n

They were apprehended, brought back to Liberia and are currently detained at the Sanniquellie Central Prison, awaiting trial.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Police in Ganta have arrested and charged 11 young men with various crimes, including Armed Robbery and assaulting peaceful citizens, among others.<\/p>\n

Ganta Police Commander Archie Dannies, told reporters this is his first phase of what he will do in the city.<\/p>\n

He says his administration as Police Commander will help to bring relief to residents of Ganta that has come under repeated attacks by criminals.<\/p>\n
