ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has reaffirmed its strong commitment to human capacity development, as more than fifteen employees recently graduated from the Succeed One Leadership Program in Yekepa, Nimba County.<\/p>\n

The program, delivered by ArcelorMittal University in partnership with Duke Corporate Education, underscores the company\u2019s belief that investing in leadership is essential for operational excellence and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n

At the graduation ceremony, ArcelorMittal\u2019s Global CEO for Mining, Kleber Silva, emphasized the transformative power of learning. \u201cThe most precious thing we have in our lives is the ability to grow and transform ourselves by learning,\u201d he stated, highlighting the importance of continuous development for both individuals and the company. Silva expressed optimism for AML\u2019s future, noting that with the conclusion of the MDA, the company is poised to continue its support and expansion in Liberia.<\/p>\n

The in-person training, organized in collaboration with Duke University, focused on strengthening leadership competencies among AML staff. Participants were equipped with practical tools to navigate AML\u2019s evolving work environment, foster effective team collaboration, and respond to operational challenges. The program also emphasized self-awareness and building a strong internal community, creating a dynamic platform for shared learning and leadership engagement across departments.<\/p>\n

AML\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Michiel Van Der Merwe, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their new knowledge to daily responsibilities. He commended the workforce\u2019s growth and maturity, calling the progress \u201cexceptional\u201d and \u201camazing to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Graduates expressed gratitude for AML\u2019s investment in their professional development, noting that the training\u2019s focus on distinguishing technical problems from adaptive challenges has helped shift their mindset toward mobilizing people and leading with presence. As ArcelorMittal navigates transitions such as decarbonization, digitalization, and cultural transformation, participants described the leadership framework gained as essential to the company\u2019s ongoing operations.<\/p>\n

ArcelorMittal Liberia has long demonstrated its commitment to Liberian workforce development through structured training initiatives. These include apprenticeship schemes, technical and engineering development pathways, safety certification programs, and international exposure opportunities for high-performing Liberian staff. By partnering with vocational institutions and implementing in-house competency-based training, AML continues to strengthen technical proficiency and employability, supporting national expertise and creating a sustainable pipeline of qualified Liberian professionals for the mining sector.<\/p>\n
