Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Slovak Ambassador Martin Podstavet, accredited to Liberia with residency in Abuja, Nigeria, recently toured the Jeety Rubber Factory and the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) in Weala, Margibi County.<\/p>\n

He described the companies\u2019 investments as clear evidence of Liberia\u2019s positive business climate and growing investment potential.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the Ambassador inspected the SRC school, medical clinic, worker residential camps, and rubber tapping fields. He also toured all departments of the Jeety Rubber Factory, where raw latex is processed into solid rubber blocks for export.<\/p>\n

Jeety Rubber operates one of Liberia\u2019s major rubber processing facilities in Margibi County and owns SRC, the country\u2019s fourth-largest rubber plantation. Both companies are owned by Upjit Singh Sachdeva\u2014widely known as Jeety\u2014who serves as the Honorary Consul General of Slovakia in Liberia.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador\u2019s visit coincided with his presentation of letters of credence to President Joseph Boakai, at which he announced the Slovak Government\u2019s intention to deepen bilateral cooperation with Liberia, focusing on economic and educational development, guided in part by recommendations from the honorary consul.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone I spoke with described Mr. Jeety as a good man who supports thousands of Liberians,\u201d Ambassador Podstavet said. \u201cSlovakia does not take lightly the decision to endorse someone as Honorary Consul General. It profoundly signifies exceptional knowledge and well-rounded expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n

A key component of future Slovak-Liberian collaboration, according to the Ambassador, will be educational exchanges, including potential scholarship opportunities for Liberian students.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador emphasized that Slovakia\u2019s current focus is building a substantive relationship with Liberia through the newly appointed honorary consul.<\/p>\n

He noted that he was struck by the scale of development Jeety has driven in Liberia, and pledged to brief both the Slovak government and its citizens on Jeety\u2019s contributions and investments in the country.<\/p>\n

Jeety\u2019s social investments in Weala were described as impressive, with the Ambassador stating that Slovakia is proud to have Jeety as its Honorary Consul in Liberia.<\/p>\n

The companies\u2019 community initiatives include nine deep-borehole wells that provide free, safe drinking water\u2014more than 18,000 gallons per day\u2014to over 6,000 people.<\/p>\n

Other ongoing projects include expanding the companies\u2019 50-bed clinic to feature four operating theaters and a dedicated eye clinic, establishing a $10,000 annual district scholarship fund, and running a daily feeding program.<\/p>\n

Additional efforts include donating a fully equipped ambulance for emergency services, organizing regular eye-care outreach, sponsoring advanced medical treatments, and providing financial and technical support to Margibi County sports teams.<\/p>\n

The visit underscores Slovakia\u2019s commitment to fostering deeper ties with Liberia, with both governments eyeing continued collaboration in investment, education, and social development.<\/p>\n\r\n
