At the center of the brewing storm is a \u201cred alert\u201d communication dated April 2, 2026.<\/p>\n

The letter, signed by FIFA\u2019s Chief Member Associations Officer, Elkhan Mammadov, and addressed to Liberia Football Association (LFA) General Secretary Emmett Crayton, leaves no room for ambiguity.<\/p>\n

Liberia has until April 9 to rectify \u201cundue interference\u201d or face an immediate suspension from all footballing activities.<\/p>\n

The standoff originated in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court on March 24. His Honor, Judge Peter W. Gbeneweleh, issued a preliminary injunction halting the LFA\u2019s elective congress.<\/p>\n

His legal team argues that the provision contradicts Article 21(j) of the 1986 Liberian Constitution, which asserts that citizens who have served their legal sentences should not be permanently deprived of their civil or political rights.<\/p>\n

While Judge Gbeneweleh found the constitutional argument sufficient to pause the elections, FIFA views the judicial intervention as a cardinal sin.<\/p>\n

FIFA\u2019s \u201cThird-Party\u201d Warning<\/b><\/p>\n

In its dispatch, FIFA categorized the court\u2019s ruling as \u201cundue third-party interference,\u201d a direct violation of Articles 14 and 51 of the FIFA Statutes.<\/p>\n

Beyond the legal tug-of-war, the saga has exposed administrative frailty within the LFA.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest the LFA\u2019s legal department failed to file a timely response alongside its motion to dismiss Kuoh\u2019s petition a procedural blunder that may have handed the petitioner an early advantage.<\/p>\n
