Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Monrovia \u2014 The Indian Embassy accredited to Liberia is set to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on April 9 in Monrovia, in an event expected to highlight growing cultural cooperation between India and Liberia.<\/p>\n

Invitations have been extended to a cross-section of institutions, cultural organizations, members of the diplomatic corps and prominent figures in Liberia\u2019s creative sector. Among the invited guests is Liberia\u2019s Cultural Ambassador, Kekura Malawala Kamara, whose presence is seen as a strong symbol of the deepening cultural dialogue between the two nations.<\/p>\n

The ICCR, established in 1950 under the leadership of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, has long served as a cornerstone of India\u2019s cultural diplomacy\u2014promoting artistic exchange, educational cooperation and mutual understanding across borders.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the celebration, Ambassador Kamara described the invitation as both an honor and a reaffirmation of the growing cultural partnership between India and Liberia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to be invited to this wonderful celebration,\u201d Ambassador Kamara said. \u201cIt reflects India\u2019s continued commitment to sharing its rich cultural heritage with Liberia and the wider world. These kinds of engagements strengthen not only diplomatic ties, but also the human connections that sustain them.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that Liberia stands to benefit greatly from such cultural exchanges, noting that exposure to India\u2019s traditions, arts and educational opportunities can inspire Liberia\u2019s own creative community while opening new avenues for collaboration.<\/p>\n

As part of this growing engagement, it may be recalled that Ambassador Kamara recently led a delegation of 15 Liberians to participate in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, Haryana, India.<\/p>\n

The Surajkund International Crafts Mela is regarded as one of the largest cultural gatherings in the world, attracting thousands of artisans from across the globe.<\/p>\n

During the event, Liberian participants showcased a vibrant display of crafts, traditional music, dance, textiles, jewelry, and indigenous designs\u2014offering a powerful expression of Liberia\u2019s cultural identity on an international stage.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Kamara also expressed profound gratitude to the Indian Embassy for the invitation, describing it as a gesture of respect and inclusion toward Liberia\u2019s cultural leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis invitation is not just for me as an individual,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt represents Liberia\u2019s cultural voice. It is an opportunity for us to engage, to learn, and to share our own story with a nation that has a rich and diverse heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n
