It aims to promote good governance and reinforce public confidence in government systems.<\/p>\n<p>The LRA is among seven institutions selected to participate in the pilot phase of the Index.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the NII in Monrovia, CG Jallah described the introduction of the NII as a significant milestone in Liberia\u2019s governance reform agenda, noting that it has the potential to enhance institutional performance, build public trust, and promote sustainable national development.<\/p>\n<p>He assured stakeholders that the LRA will fully embrace the outcomes of the Index, including areas that may require improvement, emphasizing that the initiative presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen institutional credibility and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The LRA Commissioner General said the launch of the NII indicates a great move toward consolidated efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in the public sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe launch of the National Integrity Index is not simply the unveiling of a framework but a statement of national intent that reflects Liberia\u2019s resolve to strengthen accountability, transparency, and public trust in state institutions.\u201d He said.<\/p>\n<p>CG Jallah indicated that taxpayers\u2019 compliance is rooted in trust that their contributions will be managed responsibly and used for national development, noting that such trust can easily be undermined by corruption or unequal treatment, highlighting the importance of ethical governance, which must be continuously practiced and reinforced through both systems and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the LRA, efforts have been made to institutionalize integrity through the use of technology to reduce human discretion, the establishment of grievance mechanisms for taxpayers, and internal accountability systems to ensure compliance among staff.\u201d CG Jallah said.<\/p>\n<p>He praised the leadership of the Governance Commission for spearheading the initiative, describing the courage to subject institutions to open evaluation as an act of leadership in a region where trust in public institutions remains fragile.<\/p>\n<p>CG Jallah called on public institutions, civil society, the media, and development partners to actively support the initiative, emphasizing that accountability requires independent scrutiny and sustained public engagement.<\/p>\n<p>The NII program was launched by the Director General of the Cabinet, Nathaniel T.
