Monrovia, Liberia \u2013 April 20, 2026: Senior correspondent of the New Dawn Newspaper, Kruah Thompson, has been elected Vice President of the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) following a competitive election held over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Thompson, who is currently assigned at the Ministry of Information, secured a decisive victory in the vice presidential race, polling 130 votes (61.03%) to defeat Sei Korea, who garnered 83 votes (38.97%).<\/p>\n

The election took place on Saturday at the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) headquarters in Sinkor. It was organized by the RAL Elections Committee in collaboration with the Congress Committee, with support from the PUL.<\/p>\n

Voting began at 3:36 p.m. and officially closed at 6:00 p.m., with the final ballot cast at 6:01 p.m. A total of ten candidates contested various positions during the exercise.<\/p>\n

In the presidential race, Webster J.H. Clayeh emerged victorious, defeating Barclay M. Karnley with 117 votes (54.17%) against 99 votes (45.83%).<\/p>\n

For the position of Secretary General, Blamo N. Toe secured 133 votes (61.86%), beating Amos Harris, who received 82 votes (38.14%). Princess M. Kamara won the Assistant Secretary General position with 127 votes (59.35%), defeating Joshua B. Freeman, who obtained 87 votes (40.65%).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Financial Secretary position saw a tight contest, with Cynthia Quinisier narrowly defeating Lazota Bility by 108 votes (50.23%) to 107 votes (49.77%).<\/p>\n

According to official results released by the Elections Committee, 3,000 ballots were printed, with 1,082 (36.07%) utilized. Of the votes cast, 1,073 were declared valid, while 9 were invalid and 1 ballot was discarded.<\/p>\n

The Elections Committee has officially declared all winners duly elected to their respective positions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very happy to be elected as Vice President of RAL,\u201d Thompson said.<\/p>\n
