The Principal of the Riverview Christian Academy Deacon Jomah B. Tukpaye has named illiteracy, ignorance and poverty as Liberia\u2019s number one enemies, thereby calling on the Ministry of Education to put more resources in early childhood development so as to enable the society to win the war against those negative vices.<\/p>\n

According to him, Liberia has great battles to fight when it comes to illiteracy because the country still has a huge number of its population that is still struggling to have access to education.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview Tuesday, 8 February 2022 with this paper, Deacon Tukpaye said it\u2019s time that the country put in more resources in early childhood development because it\u2019s the backbone to a productive and vibrant society.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiberia has a very good educational policy but the problem is the government\u2019s willingness to put in the [needed] resources that will help the sector,\u201d said Deacon Tukpaye.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, to admit, the country has more to do if we want to win the war over illiteracy, ignorance and poverty that remains the country\u2019s greatest enemies,\u201d Deacon Tukpaye said.<\/p>\n

He further indicated that Liberia has great potential because of its youthful population, but noted also that the youthful population here can become harmful to society if the government does not design policy and programs for early childhood developments to strengthen the capacity of the youths across the country.<\/p>\n

Deacon Tukpaye called on the government through the Ministry of Education to begin supporting private schools across the country and make sure they are supported with the needed resources to enable them to build a solid academic foundation all across the country.<\/p>\n

He urged the government to be more robust in monitoring various schools operating in the country to ensure that the prescribed curriculum will be delivered to students.<\/p>\n

With that, he argued, there will be more excellent marks in public examinations that will bring pride to the country.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Riverview Christian Academy celebrated its First Graduation exercise with over 200 students who made a successful pass in all academic requirements as well as the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Liberia.<\/p>\n

Also commenting on the graduation ceremony, Deacon Tukpaye disclosed that the graduation exercise laid the first major milestone since the establishment of the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis births another success for the institution\u2019s contributions toward making the educational sector of Liberia better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
