Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>As Liberia celebrates 200 years of existence as a country, the President of Liberia George Weah says Liberians in and out of the country should not be divided by politics. He wants Liberians to join hands together and build the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout peace, our world will not be developed. Let politics not define us, we have a great nation where great men came from and built their countries, let us do it ourselves,\u201d President Weah said.<\/p>\n

The Liberian Leader made the assertion when he gave a special statement during the Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service at the grounds of the Executive Mansion on Sunday.<\/p>\n

According to the Liberian Leader, as the country commemorates what he termed as a great milestone. President Weah called on Liberians to reflect not only on what has been achieved thus far, but also on what can still be achieved in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me invite you to join me in looking beyond into a new world of science and technology, into a new world of globalization, into a new world where liberty, equality, stability, justice, peace and prosperity under the rule of law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us look beyond the Bicentennial to a new world where equal opportunity will be for all of our citizens,\u201d Pres. Weah added.<\/p>\n

The President also praised the Liberia Council of Churches and the entire Christian Community for their support toward the yearlong historical Bicentennial event.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond the Bicentennial, I envision a new Liberia where the basic social services for all, the opportunity to enhance road connectivity, educational programs and adequate healthcare delivery and the creation of the national platform where all Liberians will live in a peaceful atmosphere of national unity and reconciliation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said, it is time for Liberians to work together to maintain the peace and do everything within their individual power to nostrum and keep peace alive in the spirit of oneness, kindness, and forgiveness.<\/p>\n

Also giving the Bicentennial message, Arch Bishop Isaac S. Winker, presiding prelate of the Isaac Winker Global Ministry Dominion Christian Fellowship said Liberia as Africa\u2019s first independent republic was established to serve the God in truth. He added that it is a wrong thing to shy away the truth.<\/p>\n

He called on Liberians in and out of the country to profess positive things about their country. According to him, it is the time for the church to standup.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe church should not be a careless mother. It is time for us to teach our people between the love of God and the love for country,\u201d Bishop Winker said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cGod has a purpose for this nation. God\u2019s words concerning Liberia are final and the devil can do nothing about it. I call the church to come together and let us enjoy the fruit of unity in diversity. No nation grows without the full participation of its citizens in meaningful ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLook into the future with new hope. Things may not be what you want it to be but we are getting there. I envision a great Liberia, a strong and prosperous nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
