Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Dr. James Yarsiah over the weekend donated wheelchairs, crutches, sets of walkers and other essential materials to the group of 77 on Newport Street in Monrovia.<\/p>\n

Dr. Yarsiah a Liberian based in the U.S. and the Priest-in-Charge of the ST. James and ST. Michael\u2019s Episcopal Church in USA. He said the items donated were part of his humanitarian gesture and love for humanity to enhance the movement of the physically challenged.<\/p>\n

According to him, a 40ft container containing books, wheelchairs and other assorted items were brought in the country to be shared among schools, churches, and the disabled community; while visiting Liberia on vacation from the U.S.<\/p>\n

He thanked to his congregation through the church\u2019s global outreach ministry for their contribution that have enabled him to donate wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and other items to the Group of 77.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very delighted to be given wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and etcetera to the Group of 77 and we pray that all who are going to use it will be done to the glorification of God,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Group of 77 is one of the largest groups comprising of people living with disabilities. It has sub-branches across the country, and is supervised by the office of the Vice President of Liberia through the organization\u2019s Executive Director. Since its members largely depend on alms and goodwill gesture from humanitarian organizations, members have been greatly affected as the result of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Dr. Yarsiah\u2019s gesture, the group\u2019s members said will bring great relief to them. One of the regional coordinators of the Group of 77, Jeremiah Cooper, in respond expressed thanks to the clergyman on behalf of the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Group of 77, I am pleased to receive these items and say thanks to you to the pastor and the church for being a help to us in line with what the Bible says about giving to the needed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
