L\u2019huile alimentaire est vendue entre 9 000 et 13 000 ariary le litre, avec une consommation locale couverte en grande partie par la production nationale. Malgre\u0301 des de\u0301pendances partielles aux importations, des initiatives telles que le programme One District, One Factory font progresser vers une production entie\u0300rement locale, notamment avec l\u2019installation de sept huileries d\u2019arachide. Cependant, beaucoup de consommateurs se plaignent de la qualite\u0301 de l\u2019huile alimentaire produite localement, bien que la bouteille cou\u0302te moins cher.<\/p>\n

Pour le sucre, il connai\u0302t une hausse de prix, attribue\u0301e a\u0300 des retards de livraison et a\u0300 la spe\u0301culation perturbant l\u2019approvisionnement. Des usines sucrie\u0300res, comme celles a\u0300 Antanamifafy (re\u0301gion Boeny) et Mahatalaky (Re\u0301gion Anosy) sont de\u0301ja\u0300 installe\u0301es pour satisfaire la demande locale mais leur production reste insuffisante. Des discussions sont en cours pour re\u0301habiliter la sucrerie de Siranala a\u0300 Morondava. L\u2019usine a cesse\u0301 de fonctionner apre\u0300s la destruction et le saccage des infrastructures et des machines cause\u0301es par une manifestation des ouvriers en 2015. Les investisseurs chinois qui ont commence\u0301 a\u0300 louer l\u2019usine aupre\u0300s de l\u2019Etat pre\u0300s de 10 ans auparavant ont abandonne\u0301 son exploitation.<\/p>\n
