Africa-Press – Madagascar. <\/strong><\/span>Le virus Ebola a d\u00e9sormais un traitement officiel. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, l\u2019Organisation mondiale de la sant\u00e9 (OMS) a recommand\u00e9, vendredi 19 ao\u00fbt, deux m\u00e9dicaments afin de r\u00e9duire la mortalit\u00e9 li\u00e9e \u00e0 la fi\u00e8vre h\u00e9morragique. Il ne s\u2019agit pas de traitement pr\u00e9ventif, ces m\u00e9dicaments doivent \u00eatre pris par les patients d\u00e9j\u00e0 atteints par la maladie.<\/p>\n

Ces deux traitements sont des anticorps \u00ab monoclonaux \u00bb : ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 sp\u00e9cifiquement cr\u00e9\u00e9s pour combattre une maladie une fois le patient contamin\u00e9. Pour lutter contre le virus Ebola, l\u2019Organisation mondiale de la sant\u00e9 (OMS) \u00ab recommande fortement \u00bb deux de ces m\u00e9dicaments. Le premier est appel\u00e9 mAb114 (commercialis\u00e9 sous le nom Ebanga) et le second se nomme REGN-EB3 du laboratoire Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.<\/p>\n

Selon l\u2019OMS, ces deux traitements r\u00e9duisent consid\u00e9rablement la mortalit\u00e9 li\u00e9e \u00e0 la maladie du virus Ebola : une fois la contamination confirm\u00e9e en laboratoire, ils doivent \u00eatre pris au plus t\u00f4t. Cette recommandation convient \u00e9galement aux nouveau-n\u00e9s venus au monde avec la maladie de par leur m\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Organisation explique que ces traitements sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 utilis\u00e9s depuis fin 2020, depuis leur approbation par l\u2019Agence am\u00e9ricaine des m\u00e9dicaments (FDA) : sur 1 000 patients soign\u00e9s avec ces m\u00e9dicaments, ils pourraient sauver entre 230 et 400 personnes de la maladie.<\/p>\n

L\u2019OMS \u00ab pr\u00eate \u00e0 aider les pays \u00bb pour rendre les m\u00e9dicaments \u00ab plus abordables \u00bb<\/p>\n

C\u2019est en tout cas la premi\u00e8re fois que les Nations unies recommandent un traitement contre Ebola. Depuis sa d\u00e9couverte en 1976, le virus a tu\u00e9 plus de 11 000 personnes, principalement sur le continent africain, notamment lors de sa plus importante flamb\u00e9e, qui a s\u00e9vi entre 2013 et 2016 en Afrique de l\u2019Ouest.<\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019OMS est pr\u00eate \u00e0 aider les pays, les fabricants et les partenaires pour am\u00e9liorer l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 ces traitements, et \u00e0 soutenir les efforts nationaux et mondiaux afin de les rendre plus abordables \u00bb, a indiqu\u00e9 l\u2019organisation dans un communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Dans ses lignes directrices, l\u2019OMS recommande en revanche de ne pas administrer le traitement ZMapp (\u00e0 base d\u2019anticorps monoclonaux) et l\u2019antiviral remdesivir. Outre les traitements, des vaccins ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis au point ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et sont utilis\u00e9s pour interrompre les cha\u00eenes de transmission.<\/p>\n
