Africa-Press – Malawi. As the Affordable Input Program (AIP) remains a challenge this year,Members of Parliament are coughing 150,000 per month to fare the AIP inputs to the designated areas from depots.
Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsanje Central,McDowell Mkandawire revealed this on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in an interview with Maravi post. Mkandawire said this year’s AIP program is a disaster as every member has to use their initiative for the inputs to reach their community.
He said a lot of members are struggling in their constituency with the program. Concurring with Mkandawire, Rumphi South lawmaker, Dada Wiza said he has grated the leave of absence from the office of the speaker to be helping people of his constituency to get the inputs which are not yet in the depots.
Wiza said it is very sad that the minister of Agriculture is keeping on assuring the delivery of the inputs but nothing has been done till date. Apart from the two MPs, several legislators including Chitipa south ,Vuwa Kaunda,Chikwawa central,Idrisa Karim complained of the same .
