Africa-Press – Malawi. As part of commemorating International Women’s Day, President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 joined the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) in launching the Professional Malawian Women Website at capital Hill in Lilongwe.

The website is expected to profile qualified women and positioning them suitably to potential employers and professional associates. The website is a collective of women achievers with different qualifications from different sectors in Malawi who are exposed to various job opportunities.

MHRC Commissioner Stella Twea said, the launch of the website shows the government’s commitment to improving gender equality and women empowerment. “We are very glad to have the full government’s commitment in empowering women. The presence of the state President at this website launch function is a clear indication that the government is committed in empowering women in the country,” said Twea.

The Malawi leader said as this year’s International Women’s Day theme ‘ break the bias ‘ suggests, it is incumbent upon everyone to make available all the information that puts to light the accomplishments of women in the societies.

Chakwera said, Malawi does not lack women leaders at all stages of strata. He said was delighted with the launch of the website, saying through the website, the women will now be a great resource for the Malawi’s developmental agenda as a nation.

“My government will be the first to utilize the platform in allocating opportunities to deserving women. I call upon other institutions to follow suit,” said Chakwera.

The Professional Women Website will firstly profile women with postgraduate degrees, followed by those with first degrees, then diplomas, and lastly the women in the formal sector
