Africa-Press – Malawi. Renowned communications and media specialist-cum-musician Dyson Mthawanji, has finally released his much-awaited Tiye music video whose audio hit airwaves on 31 December 31, 2021.

Mthawanji who is also an author left his new fans in suspense when he dropped the audio without a video. It has become a fashion for musicians in Malawi and abroad to release both audio and video at once.

According to Lilongwe based Mthawanji, he has been receiving a lot of pressure from his fans to release the video. He said he wanted to take his time so that the final video production should be of great quality.

“Tiye is my first song. So when the audio was recorded I could not hold my patience to wait for the video. I was very eager to release the audio so that people could taste my music.

“I wanted music fans to taste my music without delay. That is why I went ahead to give them the audio before I finished the video. Today, I am happy that the video is finished and it is now in the hands of my fans,” said Mthawanji who is popular with his Chichewa book entitled Chiphadzuwa cha Usiku which is still selling like hot cakes on the market.

The Tiye music video which has been produced by talented Blantyre based producer Ronald Zeleza, well-known in videography sector as Ron CZ, shows how serious Mthawanji is with best quality of his work.

Listening to the audio and watching this video, one may think Mthawanji started music long time ago. However, this is his first song. In the music video, Mthawanji has also used Blantyre based model, Princilla Ntaba, who acted as his wife-to-be. The video was shot in Chiradzulu and Thyolo districts.

Mthawanji has promised his fans for more fire-works. “This is just the begging. The song has strengthened my passion for singing. Many people have fallen in love with this song. Therefore, I will make sure that the next song is also powerful,” he said.

He said he will make sure that the next song should come out both as audio and video. Asked whether his music career will not frustrate his writing career, Mthawanji boasted of being a good time manager hence he will always balance the two well.

He said every person has 24 hours in a day, thus, what matters is on how he or she uses such hours. “I believe in multitasking. Therefore, my fans from book publishing side should not get worried that I will stop writing books. By the way, I am working on a new book which will be published soon,” he said.

One of the local arts and entertainment commentators, Joel Chiheni Phiri, said Mthawanji is one of the promising artists. “I have listened to the audio and watched the music video of Tiye. This is the nice production. I like his simplicity with the lyrics. It is not easy to come up with a reggae love song like this. But Mthawanji and Sangie have done it. This is amazing,” said Chiheni-Phiri.

The Tiye audio was produced by Sispence at Chirimba in Blantyre. Mthawanji who originally hails from Mpanang’ombve village, T/A Nthindo in Malawi’s central region district of Ntchisi is a fan of local music.

He says he has been musically inspired by Lucius Banda, Mlaka Maliro, Physix, Wendy Harawa, Black Missionaries, Coss Chiwalo, Emma Masauko, Eliza Kachali-Kaunda among others.
