Africa-Press – Malawi. Two people have died in road accident after the driver lost control of his motor vehicle and veered off the road due to over-speeding. The accident occurred in the afternoon of Tuesday March 22, 2022 at Muwa Trading Centre along Robert Mugabe Highway in Chiradzulu district.
The deceased have been identified as Tereza Jailosi aged 35 of Ndala Village and Mary Mary Mng’omba aged 58 of Balasoni Village, both from Traditional Authority (T.A) Nkalo in the district.
It is reported that a motor vehicle registration BY 4864 Audi Saloon driven by Malumbo Chirwa was coming from the direction of Limbe, heading towards Mulanje direction along Robert Mugabe Highway.
Upon arrival at Muwa Trading Centre, he was avoiding a pothole and due to over-speeding, he lost control of the vehicle and went to the extreme nearside where he hit two female pediatricians who were walking on the right hand side of the road.
Due to the impact of the accident, both victims sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures on both legs and arms and were pronounced dead upon at Nguludi Mission Hospital. The dead bodies have been taken by their relatives for burial.
