Africa-Press – Malawi. A Zomba based grouping in the name of Child rights Clinic’ planned demonstration on Chinese racist Lu Ke which was scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 2022 hangs in balance following his arrest in Zambia.

On Monday, June 20, there were verbal warn between the grouping and Ministry of Unit on the matter as government did not bring Chinese embassy officials to the meeting as planed.

The grouping’s Chairperson Charles Kamchezera demanded government to bring back the Chinese in question back in the country to face the law. He said Lu Ke and other Chinese nationals living illegally in Malawi be investigated.

Kamchedzera said the grouping was looking forward to engage the Chinese embassy not Chinese business community who were present at the meeting. In his remarks Minister of Civic, Timothy Mtambo said as government believes in fighting racism and condemned zero tolerance of the malpractice.

Mtambo observes that the video showed gaps Malawi has and the need for collaboration with different stakeholders and ministries to fight the malpractice.

He called upon the media to be in fore front to apprehend culprits in the course of investigations of the stories. However, with the arrest of Lu Ke in Zambia is unlikely that the demonstration will take place on Tuesday.
