Africa-Press – Malawi. MISA Malawi says it is saddened and shocked with the untimely death of Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) Executive Director Anthony Phanga who died on Monday July 18, 2022 at Blantyre Adventist Hospital.
In a statement MISA Malawi Chairperson Teresa Ndanga said Phanga’s death is a great loss in a media fraternity and the country as whole. “This a really sad development. Mr. Phanga was central to steering MIJ to the success we see from outside.
“Under his leadership, we have witnessed the new crop of journalists as well as thriving radios. The sector has lot a well of wisdom. Our condolences to Phanga family, colleagues at MIJ and media fraternity,” said Ndanga.
The late Phanga joined MIJ as finance and Adminstration Manager before rising to the post of Executive Director. He also worked with Blantyre Newspapers Limited ( BNL), now Times Group, as Chief Accountant. His remains will be laid to rest on Wednesday July 20,2022 at his home village around Chitala in Salima.
