Malawi Govt rolls out four days 3 Polio vaccination campaign

Africa-Press – Malawi. Ministry of Health with support from partners embarked on strategies for eradication of polio in the country for 4 days from 11 to 14 August this year.

Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo said this in Dedza in launching of round 3 polio vaccination campaign. Kandodo said high risk people are those that are unvaccinated or those that received poor doses of polio vaccine.

She said is disabling and life threatening disease and vaccines are most effective and prevention strategy for the disease. The Minister called upon any child from Zero to fifteen years of age with an acute onset of flaccid palalysis or weakness to be taken to the nearest health centre.

She said the Ministry will enhance on Surveillance for polio through active case search and establishing environment surveillance sites across the country to ensure that no polio case is missed in the country. The vaccination campaign is initiated by World Health Organization (WHO),UNICEF, Melinda gates foundation and Malawi red cross.
