Africa-Press – Malawi. The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General, Gelzeder Jeffrey has distanced the party from some unscrupulous individuals who are disguising as the party members.

The suspected imposters are allegedly collecting money from unsuspecting DPP supporters, claiming that the money is meant for the settlement of legal fees in a court case involving Kondwani Nankhumwa and three others, as directed by the High Court.

In a statement Maravi Post has in Possession, Jeffrey says the truth of the matter is that Nankhumwa and three others decided to withdraw the claim for legal fees citing that, they are bona fide DPP senior members and that they put the interests of the party, ahead of everything.

“That being the case there was no point squeezing the very party they belong to,” she says. Meanwhile, Jeffrey has warned the general public, against contributing money to anyone who contacts them in the name of DPP.

Recently, Nankhumwa, Gelzeder Jeffrey, Yusuf Nthenda, and Jappie Mhango instructed their lawyers Chidothe and company to withdraw the MK87 million legal costs demand in a case they won against DPP. The four were challenging their expulsions from the party.
