Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody a 35-year-old Patrick Matchado, of Kadulira Village Traditional Authority ( TA) Ngabu for allegedly murdering his parents.
Matchado allegedly killed his parents namely Frank Matchado 56, and Nakiyera Chinkobwe 53, both from Kadulira Village, (TA) Ngabu in Chikwawa District on the night of October 24,2022 .
According to Chikwawa Police Station Public Relations Officer Dickson Matemba, on the said night, Matchado stormed into his parents’ house, accusing them of bewitching his two children and brother, who died sometime back.
” He stabbed both of them with a knife and immediately escaped, leaving them dead. The two were found dead in the following morning, ” said Matemba.
Matemba said postmortem examination carried out by Nkumaniza Health Centre officials confirmed that deaths were caused due to loss of blood as a result of deep wounds.
He further said Manhunt was launched by Criminal Investigation Department ( CID) officers which led to the arrest on October 30,2022. Matchado has since been charged with murder and will appear in court soon to answer the charge.
