Africa-Press – Malawi. A transfer feud is set to ensue between Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers following the latter’s announcement that striker Hassan Kajoke had moved to Area 47.
Silver announced yesterday that they have completed deals for Kajoke, China Chirwa from TN Stars and Gift Chunga and Emmanuel Kaunga of Ekwendeni Hammers. The development has since angered Bullets, whose chief administration officer Albert Chigoga has expressed shock with the Central Bankers’ behaviour.
“It is shocking that Silver have announced the deal yet the player has a running contract with us. We will take appropriate action. Kajoke has a running contract with Bullets until March 31. We do not expect this to be happening in elite football,’’ Chigoga said.
According to transfer rules and regulations, a player can sign a pre-contract with a team of his or her choice six months before the end of their contract.
This means Bullets run the risk of losing the player for free. Kajoke was also linked with a move to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers last season. Silver Company Secretary Peter Masiye said all the four players have signed contracts with the club.
’’We are not yet done. We expect to conclude deals with more high-profile players very soon,’’ Masiye said. Kajoke could be a direct replacement for Chawanangwa Kaonga, who is on the verge of joining Zambian club Zanaco.
Bullets’ slippery winger Mischek Selemani is also expected to join Silver after refusing to sign a contract extension. There are more worries for the TNM Super League champions as influential midfielder Chimwemwe Idana is yet to agree to terms to sign a contract extension as his current deal expires next month.
Football Association of Malawi opened the first registration window last week and it will run until March 25. The association insisted that the use of Fifa’s Transfer Marching System is mandatory and that all transfers outside the system will not be recognised.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama said Bullets made life difficult for themselves. ’’This is a tricky situation for Bullets. If indeed Kajoke’s contract will end in March, then he is free to sign a pre-contract with a team of his choice. This means Bullets will end up on the losing side,’’ Chinyama said. Kajoke won the 2021 TNM Super League golden boot award with 15 goals.
