Africa-Press – Malawi. The country’s right body under the banner Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC) has dared President Lazarus Chakwera to fight against corruption by coming up with an action in line with Martha Chizuma Commission inquiry findings.
HRCC Board Chairperson, Robert Mkwezalamba told the news conference on Friday, January 13, 2023 in the capital Lilongwe that Chakwera must respects the decision of the court in view of the various rights of people that may be injured by the corruption allegations in the leaked audio.
Mkwezalamba observes that leaked audio issue must be concluded with the state undertaking appropriate legal means to ensure that concerned of individuals are freed legally to operate, serve in line the law.
“We demand displinary action in all the people who were injured by the recording as we know that Chizuma is a darling to malawians,”said Mkwezalamba. He said the fight of corruption requires decisive actions, people with integrity but also strategies and actions.
Mkwezalamna therefore called upon Chakwera to engage the British and American government to ensure that Malawi Police Service (MPS) undergo a further reform to appreciate the emerging matters of human rights and professional policing. HRCC is a grouping of over 90 civil society organization that fight for human rights.
