Africa-Press – Malawi. The main Tonse Alliance government partner Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is expected to welcome senior opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials on Friday morning, November 3, 2023.
In a press release available to The Maravi Post, MCP will hold a news conference at its headquarters in the capital Lilongwe to welcome DPP officials into the party. MCP Secretary General (SG) Eisenhower Duwa Mkaka alongside other party officials is expected to address the news conference at 09:30 hours.
Inside MCP sources told The Maravi Post that DPP officials to be welcomed including Mwanza Central lawmaker Nicolus Dausi who was suspended from the party, Zelia Chakale (DPP Director of women), Vuwa Kaunda (Nkhatabay Central lawmaker), Welani Chilenga (Chitipa South) Kamulepo Kaluwa (Rumphi East), Noel Lipipa (Blantyre City South), Owen Chomanika (Chikwawa North). The development comes as MCP is strengthening its political muscle ahead of the 2025 Presidential elections.
