Nyamilandu seeking Malawi’s FA presidency re-election

Africa-Press – Malawi. The Central Region Football Association (CRFA) on Monday, November 6, 2023, nominated the Incumbent FAM President Walter Nyamilandu. Nyamilandu has been at Football Association of Malawi (FAM) as President for 19 years.

The committee convened at Crossroads Hotel to decide who should stand for the position of the FAM Presidency. The association’s chairman Austin Biton Ajawa confirmed Nyamilandu’s nomination.

CRFA’s nomination is as follows; President; Nyamilandu, Vice-President James Mwenda, Second Vice-President Othaniel Hara while Mavis Mangulenje has been nominated for the executive committee member position.

This was the first nomination for Walter Nyamilandu since the process started and he is facing the incumbent Super League of Malawi President, Fleetwood Haiya, who declared to contest as FA President on Sunday in Mzuzu at Grand Place Hotel where the Northern Region Football Association nominated him.

However, his primary challenger Haiya has been nominated by the Beach Soccer Committee, National Referee’s Association, and NRFA. The Malawi National Coaches Committee is set to meet on November 11, 2023, Sunday to discuss who to nominate. Despite the nomination process underway the Incumbent FAM President Walter Nyamilandu is yet to declare his ambition to contest.
