Africa-Press – Malawi. The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has set December 13, 2023 at Nkopola Hotel in Mangochi for legit National Governing Council (NGC) ahead of elective convention.
The committee has also confirmed the appointment of Grezelder Jeffrey as vice president for the central region and Dr. Clement Mwale as secretary general. This follows the caucus which was held at Page House in Mangochi on Saturday, December 9. DPP President Peter Mutharika called for the committee.
A statement released a short, co-signed by the party’s administrative secretary, Francis Mphepo and spokesperson, Shadric Namalomba, has advised the new SG Mwale to consult the party leader Peter Mutharika on incoming NGC preparations.
The development comes hours after form DPP SG Jeffrey called for convention on December 16 which the party leadership described it as illegal. The opposition DPP has been in leadership crisis since lost Presidential race in 2020.
