Africa-Press – Malawi. TO LEAD THE QUEENS—LwaziThe Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has dared newly-appointed Malawi National Netball Team captain Takondwa Lwazi and her vice Thandie Galeta to be exemplary and help the side reclaim lost glory.

Malawi Queens co-coaches Peace Chawinga- Kaluwa, Mary Waya, and other members of the technical panel as well as players selected the two on Monday.

Nam General Secretary Yamikani Khungwa-Kauma said they expect the pair to be at the helm of rebuilding the Queens, with outstanding performance and exemplary behaviour.

“It is true that Takondwa has been selected to be the Queens’ captain with Thandie as the vice. As senior players, we expect them to lead by example and enhance discipline among the Queens. We want a united team which is eager to rebuild and reclaim lost glory.

“The focus is to deliver good results. As such we have also asked the other players to support the pair of Takondwa and Thandie if we are to achieve our goal,” Khungwa-Kauma said.

The Queens were without a captain after Towera Vinkhumbo remained in the United Kingdom for studies having filled the void which was created following the departure Carol Mtukule- Ngwira.

Meanwhile, both Lwazi and Galeta said they were thrilled to lead the Queens.

Lwazi said the role comes with responsibility and she was determined not to disappoint stakeholders.

“Currently, netball is undergoing rebuilding exercise, and as the link between players and Nam, I will try my best to ensure that the team remains a well-behaved side. On the court, it will my duty to encourage my players to aim for glory in a fair play manner,” she said.
