Africa-Press – Malawi. Firstly let me give my view on the difference between the elements of a Manifesto and inauguration speech. The inauguration speech sets the pace. It foreshadows the vision, the priorities and the sketchy plan of governance.

Comparing Maiden and Inauguration Speech
Last time I reflected and commended the President’s maiden speech after his emphatic victory. I have observed zinthu zingapo zofana mu ma speech abwana signifying his commitment and making the two speeches impressive so far!
1. President akupanga avoid kupanga promise zinthu zosatheka. For example president sanalonjezepo kuti katundu atsika , president sananepo kuti sukulu za secondary zikhala za ulere( this was the majority’s expectations) in the soonest period. Instead iye akupitilirabe kupanga emphasize on the priorities he has set like; Managing Fuel availability, managing the looming hunger and Managing forex shortages.
2. President sanawonetse mtima onyoza predesessor wake. Mwina ambili timaona ngati Peter akhale ndi mtima oyankhula monyozesa Chakwera. This resonates well with his maiden speech in which he commended Chakwera for being a States man. Of-course this time sanayamikire Chakwera directly (Personally I was of the view that this could have earned his speech more value if he did)
3. President sanafune kusokonezedwa ndi zomwe audience yake imakamba.
When Peter was speaking kumaveka Nyimbo zoyimba nkhani ya Ngozi ya Ndege. Kumaveka Nyimbo zonyoza a Chakwera. Instead of making a “by the way comment” over these issues the president concentrated on his prepared speech. He never wanted to impress anybody at this point as would other leaders. This resonates well with his comment on Chilima’s aeroplane crash in his maiden speech. He plainly said that it is not his priority.( Though personally I wanted this investigated as early as possible because it will be the only better means to clear Dr Lazarus. For me I still believe Chilima was not killed by Chakwera as many take it)
4. Just like the maiden speech Peter in the inauguration speech continues to warn his boys against abusing their offices.In his own words he said
…Musaone ngati yafika nthawi yoti mudye.
…Malawi does not only belong to DPP koma it belongs to all of us.
5. Peter recognition of his Victory as a product of a United front, ranging from the CSOs, the Church and the alliance partners and not DPP alone is another sign of humility and that he is ready to take everybody on board as he governs this nation.
Summary On Prof. Peter’s Speech
This is the new Prof. Peter Mutharika.This time it is not business as usual. He is ready kudana ndi athu even a chipani Cha DPP just to be on the side of the people. Aliyese amene ali pa chilungamo akhala mzake wa Peter. Ngati uli mbava forget!
Peter’s Mistake So far
In my view the only Mistake Peter has made is to tolerate the barring of Chakwera to his inauguration. Of-course we are not sure what has happened. However the information we have now is the barring. The silence on the part of the DPP seals the barring narrative right. DPP ikayankha pano zitivuta kukhulupilira because mwazipanga prepare. You had time to respond before the inauguration.
Nkhani yokuti Chakwera amaopa kukuwidwa may not be true chifukwa izi zimachitika ndi kale when Dr Chakwera was president. Chakwera wakuwidwa pa nkhani ya Ndege yomwe inapha Chilima, Chakwera wakuwidwa pakhani ya Fuel, Chakwera wakuwidwa pa nkhani ya fertiliser. This never stopped him from touring all corners of Malawi.
Chakwera’s presence at the Inauguration could have put Malawi on the global light as a poor nation with adorable and impressive democratic values.
Finally but not least I still argue that Prof Peter Mutharika needs to be given all the support at this point.
Conclusion
Ena mutha kunena kuti we shouldn’t believe Prof. Peter Mutharika because Chakwera used to make good speeches as well. But I say let’s give the Professor time. We can’t use the same yardstick we have used on Chakwera on the repentant Peter Mutharika. Yes we must believe that Peter is repentant now till we prove him otherwise..The best time to start portioning blame is when we have let time and space play their role. Let’s wait for 100 days to one year.
Mabwana ndi madoma padakali pano chomwe tikufuna ndi Fuel apezeke, fertiliser atsika, mitengo ikhazikike, forex ipezeke. Zinazo ngati secondary ya ulere tidikire Kaye Chaka cha mawa.
Brave Prof Peter Mutharika for good speeches. So far so good! It’s just regrettable the ‘ barring’ of Chakwera was tolereted.
