Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi’s creative industry will benefit from the Creation Africa programme which aims to boost and support cultural entrepreneurship in Lesotho, South Africa and Malawi.
The initiative, supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs the Embassy of France and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), has been revived.
In a statement, released by Creation of Africa and French Institute of South Africa said the programme takes a holistic approach in mentorship, incubation, training, funding and networking to support cultural entrepreneurs who are ready to take their business to the next level.
“Entrepreneurs over the age of 18, within the cultural and creative industries resident in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi are invited to apply to participate in an intensive mentorship programme starting in February 2026.
“From the applications, 50 entrepreneurs will be selected to take part in a seven-week intensive mentorship programme which aims to equip them with tools, guidance and expertise necessary to refine their business models.”
The statement further says after the seven-week, the applicants will be required to pitch their ideas from which top 15 will be selected to undergo a six-month incubation phase scheduled for April to October 2026.
Each of the the top 15 project ideas selected from the 50 will receive customised support including access to networks, investors, mentorship, strategic guidance and substantial financial support to scale up their business.
France Ambassador to South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi David Martinon said Creation Africa programme empowers creative entrepreneurs in the designated countries to thrive, innovate and collaborate.
“Through this programme, deployed in several African countries, France supports cultural and creative industries to sustainable growth and job creation,” he said
The cultural and creative industries cover a broad spectrum of sectors that contribute to cultural expression and economic growth.
They include visual and performing arts, film and television, craft and design, architecture, fashion, digital media, gaming, animation, cultural heritage as well as creative and cultural promotion spaces.
