Football Legends Association (FLA) and Ebenezer Investments have expressed satisfaction with the commitment of former players during the first phase of the skills development training programme.

FLA Board Member Khumbo Phiri made the remarks on Wednesday after visiting former players who are undergoing the training at Ebenezer Investments offices in Lilongwe.

“We are very encouraged with the response from the former players. The attendance culture is 100 percent, which means the former players are very willing to participate in the training,” Phiri said.

The former players are being trained in entrepreneurship skills, embroidery and screen printing.

Phiri said, through the training, the former players would be in a position to sustain their livelihoods through income generation.

“This is one of the initiatives we have arranged for our members. Through such initiatives, we will be able to change the lives of the former players so that they contribute to the development of the country,” Phiri said.

Ebenezer Investments Managing Director Jane Mfune said the former players were eager to learn.

“So far, so good. The former players are responding well and are excited with the training,” Mfune said.

The first cohort started their training on January 13, 2026.

The training is expected to run for one month.

Participants include Allan Kamanga, Itayi Nundwe, Leo Mpulula, Gilbert Manda, Leman Nthala, Shammy Nkhunda and Parry Chinyama.

FLA and Ebenezer signed a partnership last year.
