Mighty Tigers Football Club (FC) Coach Travor Kajawa has said his charges are ready to take on FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC in the quarterfinals of the Castel Challenge Cup at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre Saturday.

Tigers are in high spirits after booting out Civil Service United 3-2 on post-match penalties after a one-all stalemate in regulation time.

The match was played at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre a fortnight ago.

Kajawa said they had intensified preparations ahead of the clash.

“It is a big motivating factor for us to be in the quarterfinals. We need to show that we quality to compete at this stage,” Kajawa said.

Kajawa said the Kau-Kau Boys were determined to cause another upset in the competition despite being relegated from the Super League.

“The relegation is water under the bridge now. The boys are focused on the cup and are determined to prove a point,” he said.

On the other hand, Bullets caretaker coach Gilbert Chirwa knows the threat Tigers pose, especially in cup matches.

“Tigers have nothing to lose; so, they will likely come hard on us. We need to be on top of our game,” Chirwa said.

He said his charges would be looking forward to scoring first against Tigers.

“We need to score first so that we can manage the match in the second half,” Chirwa said.

Bullets progressed to the quarterfinals of the Castel Challenge Cup after beating Ndirande Stars 3-1 in the round of 16 at Kamuzu Stadium.

The recent meeting between the two sides ended goal-less in the Super League at Mpira Stadium.

However, Bullets beat Tigers 2-0 in the first round.

In another quarterfinal match, defending champions Mighty Wanderers travel to Rumphi to take on Mzuzu City Hammers on Sunday.
