Africa-Press – Malawi. The District Commissioner for Dedza, Rosemary Nawasha, has assured Malawians that the K5 billion from the Community Development Fund will be transparently managed, with project details made available on a public dashboard.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ consultation meeting on Monday, Nawasha said the public will have access to information on how the money is being used, which she believes will ensure accountability and effective implementation of projects.

This move is expected to promote transparency and accountability in the management of the fund, giving citizens a clear understanding of how their resources are being utilized.

The Director of Economic Planning and Development, McPherson Mwakhwawa, said the council will focus on both physical projects, such as hospital construction, and awareness campaigns aimed at changing mindsets and promoting development.

The council’s approach is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Dedza, addressing key development challenges and improving their socio-economic status.

The meeting brought together stakeholders, including members of parliament, councillors, traditional leaders, and village development committees, to discuss development priorities for the district.

The stakeholders’ consultation meeting provided a platform for discussing and identifying key development priorities, which will guide the allocation of the K5 billion fund.

The meeting is part of efforts to ensure that development projects are aligned with community needs and priorities, promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
