Civil reject Silver, Nomads offers

Civil Service United have rejected offers from Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers for midfielder Yankho Biliati and defender Peter Ng’ambi, respectively.

This comes after Silver wrote Civil expressing interest in signing Biliati whereas Wanderers are eying Ng’ambi.

In an interview Wednesday, Civil administrator Gabriel Chirwa said the two players are not for sale.

“We received the offer from Silver for Biliati but we are not interested in doing business with them. He is a key player for our project. Similarly, we told Wanderers that Ng’ambi is going nowhere,” Chirwa said.

Both Biliati and Ng’ambi starred for Civil last season. Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba confirmed that Civil had rejected their offer. “We were informed that Biliati is not for sale so we have no option but to accept their decision. We will now explore other options as we want to strengthen the squad for next season,” Chimimba said.

The Central Bankers are also linked with Chitipa United defender Eric Atsigah and Mafco goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa.

Chimimba did neither deny nor confirm. “It is normal during off season clubs are linked with several players. For now, we do not want to discuss players, who do not belong to us,” he said.

On his part, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi said the club had not given up on signing Ng’ambi from Civil. “We followed the transfer rules and regulations by approaching Civil but they insisted the player is not for sale. We wanted to ask permission so that we can entice the player with our project,” Ndovi said.

Ndovi claimed the player was willing to the Lali Lubani outfit. “We respect Civil on the matter but we believe the player would be given permission to speak to us. Our project is very attractive,” Ndovi said.

The Nomads have already signed striker Lameck Mithi from Moyale Barracks. They are also linked with several players such as Blue Eagles goalkeeper Precious Masamba and Chris Luwemba, who is a free agent after leaving Creck Sporting Club.
