Bullets face Eagles test

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ unbeaten record in the FDH Bank Premiership faces a stern test as they meet Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe this afternoon.

So far, Bullets and Red Lions are the only unbeaten teams in the 2026 FDH Bank Premiership after four matches.

Bullets go into the match looking to bounce back to winning ways after a frustrating goal-less stalemate against Lions at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium in Mwanza District last week.

On the other hand, Eagles are full of confidence and want to build on their back-to-back wins over Silver Strikers (1-0) and Goshen City Dedza Dynamos (2-0) as they host Bullets.

Currently, Eagles are second on the log table with nine points from four matches whereas Bullets are fourth with eight points from four matches.

Both Eagles and Bullets have a chance to go top of the log table this afternoon as current leaders Silver will be in action against defending champions Mighty Wanderers at Zomba Stadium tomorrow.

Eagles collected four points over Bullets last season after beating them 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium before a goal-less stalemate at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe in the second round.

However, since 2015 Eagles have won four matches, seven losses and seven draws in 18 matches against Bullets.

Speaking ahead of the match, Bullets coach Gilbert Chirwa said his charges are looking for all the points in today’s match.

“It is a 50-50 affair. There is no advantage, we know Blue Eagles are a good team but we are not scared of playing them so we are ready to fight for the points,” Chirwa said.

Bullets will be without Maxwell Gasten Phodo, who is still serving a two-game suspension following a red card he received in a Blantyre derby 2-1 win over Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe three weeks ago.

Eagles coach Deklerk Msakakuona said he believes his charges are ready for the clash after playing friendly matches in the Lower Shire.

“We expect a tough game but we are ready for them. We know Bullets are a good team so we have to raise our game to match them,” he said.

In other matches today, Kamuzu Barracks and Ekhaya will lock horns at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa District this afternoon.

Both KB and Ekhaya will go into the match with confidence after registering their first wins last weekend.

KB beat Creck Sporting Club 3-1 whereas Ekhaya defeated Moyale Barracks 2-0.

Red Lions will host Luanar Mitundu FC at Zomba Stadium whereas Moyale will face Creck at Rumphi Stadium.
