Africa-Press – Malawi. Concerned with rising cases of suicide cases in the country, one of the gospel musicians in the country, Rudo Chakwera, has stepped in to use art to address mental health issues.
Rudo Chakwera has released the track titled ‘Can’t Let Go’ for the cause. Rudo in the song says that God is the only one who is able to put together, heal and mend all that has fallen apart in people’s lives.
According to Rudo, what made her to release such type of song is the high rate of mental health cases each and everyday as well as suicide cases especially among the youths.
“Can’t Let Go is a song that talks about the problems that life throws at us and the various ways people use to solve those problems but in vain. At the end of it all, the truth remains that it is only God who is able to put together, heal and mend all that has fallen apart in our lives,” explained Rudo.
Malawi Police Service statistics indicate that 58 people committed suicide in October alone this year, a rise from 44 during the same month last year.
