Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) is yet to apply for a work permit for newly appointed Technical Director Marian Mario Marinica. The Romanian was unveiled as Fam TD after he signed a three-year deal.<\/p>\n

Marinica has hit the ground running after meeting Super League coaches and administrators in Central and Northern regions. While in the country, he has already asked the Flames technical panel and players to submit reports.<\/p>\n

Details have emerged that the association has not applied for the work permit as it is yet to finalise the deal with the Romanian. Under the laws of Malawi, an expatriate requires a work permit before he\/ she starts working in the country.<\/p>\n

Fam General Secretary Alfred Gunda was yet to respond to our questionnaire as we went to press Friday. An Employment Permit is issued to foreign nationals for purposes of taking up specified employment in Malawi, under Section 25 of the Immigration Act.<\/p>\n

Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services spokesperson Wellington Chiponde said the responsibility of applying for an Employment Permit rests with the employer, who is required to follow all formal procedures before the expatriate takes up employment in Malawi.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon receipt of such applications, the department processes accordingly and a person is allowed by law to commence working after paying the Employment Permit prescribed fee and being issued with the employment certificate,\u201d Chiponde said.<\/p>\n

As it stands, the Romanian is still a visitor until he gets the work permit so that he can legally start working in Malawi. On Thursday, Marinica had a meeting with Silver Strikers and TN Stars technical panel members at their respective venues.<\/p>\n

In addition, Marinica met with Mzuzu coaches and youth football officials on Friday before visiting Luwinga Technical Centre in Mzuzu. At Luwinga, he met with Fam Second Vice President Othaniel Hara and Northern Region Football Association officials.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, he also had a meeting with Civil Service United and Karonga United coaches. He is expected to meet Karonga-based coaches today. When contacted this week, Marinica said he was yet to finalise his report on domestic football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not sure [if] I could answer much right now. As [for] the report, it is not finished yet [and is] to be viewed by Fam president and the board,\u201d he said. Marinica also met coaches for Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Wanderers, Moyale Barracks and Mafco last week in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District.<\/p>\n
