Africa-Press<\/a> – Malawi<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Musician John Fire put up a spirited performance on Friday night during a show dubbed Zathu Zomwe held at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.<\/p>\n

Through Zathu Zomwe, John Fire, real name John Ndaferankhande, journeyed with the audience across the country showing the splendor of Malawi through a fusion of traditional dances in his music.<\/p>\n

Some of the traditional dances that took centrestage in his music include malipenga and ingoma from the Northern Region and beni from the Southern Region.<\/p>\n

He said the show was all about bringing people together to celebrate Malawi\u2019s cultural heritage and he did that through music from his albums\u2014 Wondilenga, Emmanuel and the latest Nkumano. The Blantyre-based musician said Zathu Zomwe was supposed to be held last year but they failed due to Covid.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thankful to God that finally we have held the show. It\u2019s been tough especially holding performances in this Covid time but God\u2019s time is always the best and this is God\u2019s best time,\u201d John Fire said.<\/p>\n

The musician, who closed the curtain as the headliner, said, having missed the stage, he made sure he brought out the best. John Fire shared the stage with British musician Annemarie Quinn who leaves the country next month after staying in the country for close to five years.<\/p>\n

There was even a moment at the very end of the show when Annemarie, who has worked with several musicians in the country, joined John Fire to collaborate in a song titled \u2018Kalulu\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnnemarie has been amazing and it is sad that she is leaving the country. I have learned a lot from her and it was nice to share the stage and this happens to be her last performance,\u201d John Fire said.<\/p>\n

Annemarie dished out songs from her Blue Sky Thinking album in which she features several Malawian acts. She was the second to perform on the day before John Fire took over.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thankful to John Fire for inviting me to be part of this show. This is my last performance in the country as I am leaving for the United Kingdom. It has been an exciting time working with several amazing musicians,\u201d Quinn said.<\/p>\n
