Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Reserved Initial Primary Teacher Education (IPTE-13) teachers have penned the Parliamentary Education Service Committee requesting allocation of funds for their permanent deployment in schools across the country.<\/p>\n

This is the second time for the teachers to write the committee but there has been no tangible response on the matter. As writing a letter was not enough, teachers planned to hold a vigil at the Parliament premises in Lilongwe to demand government employment but the move foiled due to not taking proper channels.<\/p>\n

In a letter to Parliamentary Service Committee signed by concerned teachers leadership Madalitso Jere, Esther Ng\u2019oma and Philimon Chataika, they are demanding nothing from Government but permanent deployment in schools.<\/p>\n

The teachers have since reminded government that as reserved teachers under IPTE 13, have worked for 12 months as auxiliary in different public primary schools across the country.<\/p>\n

In the past, qualified teachers from Teacher Training Colleges were employed and deployed to various schools across the country without recruitment interviews.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very worried and we are asking your committee to consider allocating funds in 2022-2023 national budget for the permanent deployment of reserved teachers\u201d, reads the letter in part.<\/p>\n

In January, 2022 some IPTE 14 teachers found their way into various schools employed as auxiliary teachers who worked for one week later were told to go back home to wait for government funding.<\/p>\n
