Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>National Bank of Malawi (NBM) on Tuesday donated K2 million to the Malawi Law Society (MLS) to be used for hosting of the annual general conference which started Thursday in Mangochi.<\/p>\n

The indaba is being held under the theme \u2018Law, Sustainable Development and the African Single Market; Towards the African Agenda 2063 and Malawi 2063\u2019.<\/p>\n

Speaking after handing over a dummy cheque to MLS Chief Executive Officer Mzati Mbeko, NBM Company Secretary Zunzu Mitole said the meeting was ideal as it brings together the country\u2019s legal minds to discuss national economic development strides.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we looked at this theme, we thought we should come in and support this AGM and conference because we believe that, for all the plans that the African continent and indeed our own country has made, the law should take its course. We are now talking of Malawi 2063 goals; we cannot achieve these if there are no laws or if the law is not respected, hence our support to this conference,\u201d Mitole said.<\/p>\n

She said the bank was equally committed to contributing towards national economic development and implementation of and aspirations in the Malawi 2063.<\/p>\n

Speaking after receiving the cheque, Mbeko thanked NBM for the support which he rated as timely \u201cWe are grateful for the support and the money brings a difference,\u201d Mbeko said.<\/p>\n
