Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi National Football Team will know its 2023 African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifiers opponents during a draw to be conducted today. Confederation of African Football (Caf) announced dates for the competition\u2019s draw early this month.<\/p>\n

According to Caf\u2019s calendar, the competition is slated to kick off in July this year. \u2019\u2019The official draw for the qualifiers will be on April 28 2022. Time will be confirmed in due course,\u2019\u2019 Caf\u2019s communication reads.<\/p>\n

Algeria will host the finals next year. The qualifiers are played at zonal level, which means the Flames will meet a team within the Cosafa region. Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka said the Flames were looking forward to the draw.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made a commitment to be part of this tournament which will help our local players gain exposure,\u2019\u2019 Zakazaka said.<\/p>\n

Malawi took part in the 2019 qualifiers but were eliminated in the preliminary round by eSwatini on away-goals rule following a 1-1 stalemate on aggregate. The Flames have never qualified for the competition\u2019s finals.<\/p>\n
