The installation ceremony took place alat Bolero Community ground in Rumphi.<\/p>\n<p>Writing on Facebook after the installation ceremony, Chakwera said he implored upon the new Paramount Chief to become a uniting factor following the divisions that characterised his appointment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have also advised him to be an enabler of development in the area by working hand in hand with government and other non-governmental stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy administration will continue collaborating with traditional leaders across the country to uplift lives of all Malawians.<\/p>\n<p>I therefore offer my full support to him as he commences this noble duty not only to the Tumbuka people but to the entire nation,\u201d said Chakwera. Bongololo Gondwe was born on 15th October, 1962 in Zambia and later moved to Malawi with his parents.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment as Chikulamayembe was rejected by the family of Mtima Gondwe who argued that Mtima was the right person to be named chief. The Mtima Gondwe camp has been holding demonstrations and press briefings to protest against the appointment of Bongololo.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers were deployed around Bolero Trading Centre to ensure security following acts of violence. Some youths were burning tyres about half a kilometre from the venue and others gathered at the residence of Mtima Gondwe. Police fired teargas at both groups.
