Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Quasi-religious group Public Affairs Committee (Pac) says it has not given up on the issue of Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Zanga-Zanga Chikhosi, who it wants out.<\/p>\n

Pac spokesperson Reverend Gilford Matonga said in an interview that all they are waiting for is for the State House to accord them time to meet with President Lazarus Chakwera and follow up on the recommendation they made to him during their last meeting.<\/p>\n

He said, if granted an audience, they would ask the President why he has failed to make changes to the office of the SPC. Matonga said Pac was aware of some changes the President had made but added that they were not satisfied that Chakwera had not fulfilled some of the recommendations they made.<\/p>\n

\u201cPac is here to provide checks and balances to the President. The whole nation knows that, some months ago, we had a meeting with the President, where we made it [our impression] clear on how things are going in this country. We expected the President to act swiftly and accordingly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, he has made a Cabinet reshuffle and few other changes but he has not fully delivered on what we mentioned. We know he has his explanations and that is why we want to meet him again and map the way forward,\u201d Matonga said.<\/p>\n

State House Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda said Pac would, as has always been the practice, be officially informed about when they would meet with the President.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always communicate to Pac when the President is ready to meet them. When the time has come, we will let them know as always,\u201d Kasunda said.<\/p>\n

Recently, Pac leaders told Chakwera to reshuffle his Cabinet, faulting the then Cabinet of having spectators that lacked seriousness and influence. The committee also faulted Chakwera for failing to address challenges emanating from the effects of the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n
