Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 relentless pursuit to their unprecedented fourth consecutive Malawi\u2019s top-flight league title got back on track with a 2-0 victory over Red Lions at Balaka Stadium.<\/p>\n

They have 26 points and opened a one point lead over Blue Eagles who have a game in hand. Bullets did the job through Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju and Chimwemwe Idana\u2019s first half goals to underline their dominance in the first half.<\/p>\n

Babatunde put Bullets in an early lead in the 13th minute when he stepped up to penalty after he was fouled by Red Lions goalkeeper Jacob Kaunda. The visitors tried in vain to cushion the lead, but failed to make the best of the chances.<\/p>\n

However, Idana, who was named last season\u2019s Player of the Season and received a Mazda Demio, scored the second goal just before recess to give his team a two-goal advantage.<\/p>\n

But Red Lions approached the second half with other ideas to press Bullets hard and kept them out of the game. It was not surprising that the People\u2019s Team relied on the first half goals to displace their early title pace setters rivals Blue Eagles.<\/p>\n

Bullets assistant coach Peter Mponda said he was not impressed with his charges despite winning. \u201cWe could have done better, considering a number of chances we created. Red Lions were hard on us, especially in the second half. But we happy to have won and collected the much needed points,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Red Lions coach Nelson Chirwa blamed the loss on the penalty decision which went against them. \u201cOf course, we did not play well, but the penalty which is questionable, demoralised our players. They could not come back into the game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In another game, Sable Farming dreadful campaign on the debut season continued after they beaten by Moyale Barracks yesterday at Mpira Stadium. Raphael Phiri scored a brace to inspire his team to victory.<\/p>\n
