Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Netball administration in the country slumped to a new low after authorities Tuesday withheld Malawi National Netball Team\u2019s test match results from the encounter with third-ranked England in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Several unconfirmed reports suggested that the Queens had suffered a comprehensive defeat at the hands of England. Many social media netball groups indicated that the Queens had lost 118-43. Times Sport could not authenticate the results.<\/p>\n

However, the conduct of Nam left a lot of fans and sports journalists fuming as the association\u2019s president Abigail Shariff and vice secretary Dianna Nkhulembe are with the team at the expense of tax-payers.<\/p>\n

Queens coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, writing in one of the social media groups, said it was the organisers who did not want the results to be made public. She also disputed that Queens had lost by 118-43 but she did not give the results.<\/p>\n

Malawi National Council of Sports spokesperson Edgar Ntulumbwa said they were following the issue with keen interest as they were not forewarned on results cap.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is news to us that the results are being kept under wraps. Nam indicated to us that the team was going for a Tri- Nation tournament. We hope they are aware that they are using public funds. If they had advised us in advance about the results cap, we could not have raised eyebrows,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nam General Secretary Isaac Chimwala promised to look into the matter by contacting their fellow officials. \u201cAgreed, the national team is a public product. Nam has taken note of all this. We will definitely look at what has been agreed at these games and make sure we also meet the needs as pointed out here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Netball analyst Desire Kambewa wondered why Nam administration released results after Monday\u2019s 93-48 loss to the hosts. \u201cNam should realise that they are using public money. If South Africa and England do not want to make the results public, then that is their choice. As for Malawi, we want to know the results to know whether we are progressing.<\/p>\n

On our part, we want the results. If the organisers had fully supported the team, it could have been a different case,\u201d he said. Queens started the tour on a bad note after losing to the hosts, South Africa, 93-48. Malawi will conclude the tour on Saturday with another tie against the hosts.<\/p>\n
