Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima on Friday, July 1, 2022 came open to the public that he was endorsed to stand for Tonse Alliance in 2025 Presidential elections.<\/p>\n

Chilima told the news conference in the capital Lilongwe that prior to 2020 Presidential Elections, UTM and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) executive members agreed to support Lazarus Chakwera first term then next elections be for him (Chilima).<\/p>\n

The Veep adds that the agreement was duly and legally signed by two parties mutually. Chilima however expressed worrisome over its partner MCP want to depart from the agreement.<\/p>\n

He however dared that if MCP want to disband the alliance then fresh elections much be called for new mandate. On corruption, Chilima appealed for support towards the vice saying UTM is behind Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) efforts.<\/p>\n

The veep also called for review of the law that protects presidency from prosecution on criminal activities reminding Malawians that Tonse Alliance promised the nation to do so once voted into power.<\/p>\n
